Do Play Dates and Wine Mix?

Catherine

I saw this story on Good Morning America and wondered what other Mom’s think?  My girls are grown young woman and they still are not fond of me having a couple glasses of wine.  When they were younger I was far to busy to think about having cocktails on play dates.  But then again back then they were not called play dates…we just went to the playground!

What do you think?  Is it ok to unwind a bit with some good friends while your kids have fun playing?

Here’s the Story from ABC news.

My Head!

Catherine

Yesterday I had a migraine….I haven’t had one that bad in years!  When my girls were young I use to get them ever few weeks.  The headaches I had were debilitating. Typical impact; extreme light and sound sensitivity, pain that intensifies, a blind spot in my vision and for me, physical expelling the contents of my stomach.  Not pleasant.  For those of you who experience migraines you know full well how they bring you to your knees.

I slept most the day and finally arose around 4pm.  Still enduring pain but slowly subsiding.  Both my girls and my guy got home around 6pm.  We sat on the deck for a short time talking.  I hadn’t eaten all day and knew I needed to have something.  No one else was very hungry.  I suggested we partake of cheese and crackers to make it simple.  Steve said that sounded good and without hesitation my daughter Courtney said “Mom’s been sick today so YOU get to cut up the cheese.” (directing this to Steve)  Of course he had already planned to prepare our feast but having my girls there protecting me made me smile.

I’m hoping the happenings yesterday does not become a trend again.  For those of you who experience these monsters, do you have suggestions?

I love to travel!!! It was to be my career.  I was a travel agent in my younger days…before the internet made planning the dream vacation so easy.  Because of my love, I’ve tried to introduce my girls to destinations within my budget as a single mom.  It isn’t easy!  We’ve traveled to upper MichiganMackinaw Island with it’s horse-drawn carriages and the beautiful Grand Hotel, Disney World twice (The first time was the 1st year Animal Kingdom opened!), Cedar Point (the best coaster park in the world!), a Carnival Cruise to the Caribbean, Pittsburgh PA for Courtney 16th Birthday, Las Vegas for Lindsay 21st Birthday and more. But there is so much more to explore!

Since leaving the industry I, as many of you, found booking vacations on line to be pretty easy but sometimes confusing.  There are so many website to search and how do you know you are getting the best deal?

Upon meeting my “man” who was forced to fly often in his career, he introduced me to Kayak.  If you haven’t tried this site you must!  Kayak compares all airlines prices including flexible travel dates and secondary airports.  Instead of searching site to site Kayak does it for you in one place!  You can search hotels, car rentals, vacation deals and more.  There are also management tools that will prompt search pushes to your email allowing you to monitor a specific search as well as an App for your smartphone.  Kayak has been a tool I use when booking any vacation or flight!  A Taboo Tip that will save you lots of time and money!  Do you have a travel tool you use?
