Today is my day! (Well, mine and my nephew Parker Cook’s that is. Happy Birthday lil Angel!) As the years go by this 24 hour period seems less unique. Maybe it’s because I don’t reside near my family (who finds every reason to party!), maybe it’s because I have no significant other currently or maybe it’s due to the focus being on what was instead of what will be. Whatever the case may be, birthdays are a call for reflection.
This year I’ve decided to start a list of things I desire to do in my life. Big and small…a “bucket list” of sorts. As the days pass I will add to this list and hopefully, mark some completed!
-European Trip with my girls
-Take my girls to a tropical beach and sit our asses in the sand doing NOTHING!
-Order and enjoy a bottle of Dom Perignon!
-Visit Times Square
-Wine trip to Napa Valley
-Finish my book
-Fulfill my daughters higher learning financial responsibilities
-Be in love, feel safe and get married (if fate permits…)
-Own another Great Pyrenees
-Go on another sister exclusive vacation
-Finish reading two more books in the category of “classics” (Maybe Wuthering Heights and Taming of the Shrew!)
-Visit the Greek Isles
-Spend 10 days in Germany with our relatives
-Learn to speak Italian (Ciao!)
-Meet Neil Schon and Steve Perry
…more to come. (maybe after some Champagne….)

I love to travel!!! It was to be my career. I was a travel agent in my younger days…before the internet made planning the dream vacation so easy. Because of my love, I’ve tried to introduce my girls to destinations within my budget as a single mom. It isn’t easy! We’ve traveled to upper Michigan; Mackinaw Island with it’s horse-drawn carriages and the beautiful Grand Hotel, Disney World twice (The first time was the 1st year Animal Kingdom opened!), Cedar Point (the best coaster park in the world!), a Carnival Cruise to the Caribbean, Pittsburgh PA for Courtney 16th Birthday, Las Vegas for Lindsay 21st Birthday and more. But there is so much more to explore!
Since leaving the industry I, as many of you, found booking vacations on line to be pretty easy but sometimes confusing. There are so many website to search and how do you know you are getting the best deal?
Upon meeting my “man” who was forced to fly often in his career, he introduced me to Kayak. If you haven’t tried this site you must! Kayak compares all airlines prices including flexible travel dates and secondary airports. Instead of searching site to site Kayak does it for you in one place! You can search hotels, car rentals, vacation deals and more. There are also management tools that will prompt search pushes to your email allowing you to monitor a specific search as well as an App for your smartphone. Kayak has been a tool I use when booking any vacation or flight! A Taboo Tip that will save you lots of time and money! Do you have a travel tool you use?
